Evaluation on Thailand Assignment
Evaluation:
For this assignment the goal was to combine two countries together with their different cuisines to create a dish that showed both of the countries main flavours. We had 4 weeks to research information for our orals. In our groups of 4 we had to prepare and present two menu items that best described the two countries and their main ingredients. After collecting all the information Mady, Sabrina, Chelsi and I had to make our dishes. The time was adequate for this assignment as I thought we had plenty of time to gather all our research and get organised on what we were making and all the things we would need. Through this assignment I learnt different things about Thailand and India, their main ingredients, cooking styles, culture, and many more things.
Unfortunately my partner missed all the lessons we had to cook so therefore I was not able to complete the task as she was going to bring in special ingredients to create our dish. For task 2, even though I wasn’t able to cook Mady and I had researched the country and found that Pad Thai was a popular menu item in Thailand and around the world. We had prepared the dish lessons before we were going to cook and organised all the ingredients we needed to prepare our dish.
I found this assignment interesting as it gave Mady and I a chance to learn about our country and how different their meals might have been, weather it’s how they make it, serve it or eat it. I enjoyed researching the country Thailand and it gave me a insight of their amazing cuisine. This task wasn’t a challenge for me as everything was clear and straight forward of what we had to achieve. Throughout this assignment I learnt how to prepare, research and organise every detail to make the task successful. The changes I would make for this assignment was to order everything from the gorcerey store instead of someone bringing it in, I had this problem as Mady was bring in a few things to complete our dish but got very sick and didn’t come to school for a few weeks leaving me not able to do my assignment that was part of my grade. I do think that would be a thing to change as it was unfair on my behalf to have to suffer and not get marked on my work.

My partner is Mady for this recipe. We had to cook the spaghetti for 15minutes until it was cooked. The we cooked the onion, garlic and capsicum until browned, then we increased the heat and cooked the mince beef until it was brown. Then we added ½ cup water, beef stock cube, oregano, mushrooms, sugar and tomato paste. I have never had capsicum and mushroom in spaghetti bolognaise before and i was surprised to find that it add more flavour to the dish. I enjoyed making this dish as there were a lot of things to do and different methods were used. Mady and I divided up the tasks that had to be completed for this recipe and got straight to work. By dividing up the jobs, there is never one of us standing around. This way we finish on time. I enjoyed this recipe and look forward to making it at home.
Mars Bar Slice
For this hospitality lesson Mady and I got to make Mars Bar Slice! The procedure was quite simple and easy to follow. After the ingredients and utensils were collected we began to boil the water ready for the chocolate. While waiting the Mars Bar was chopped into reasonable sized pieces and placed in another saucepan along with the butter. As those ingredients were mixed together the chocolate was placed on top of the water and left their to melt. After about 5mins everything was ready and the chocolate was poured into the bowl of rice bubbles and mixed around. This was then placed into the tin and the melted chocolate spread across the top. We then sat it in the fridge until set. I enjoyed making mars bar slice and especially when we got to eat some at the end :)
Thailand Assignment!
For this assignment Mady and I had to pick a country, research it and then present a powerpoint on the information we had collected. I thought the information and the presentation that we showed the class was interesting and at the same time let the audience know about Thai cuisine. The research side to it was fun and easy and I enjoy working with Mady. Thailand is an interesting place and it was very interesting to learn about some of the everyday foods that we eat originate from their and how meals from Australia mix in with some of the meals from Thai cuisine to make one big meal.
Below is a picture of Pad Thai, one of Thailand's well known meals.
